Dear Geeta,
I am providing you feedback for the program which I began in Jan 2016.
Initially when I looked at the diet you sent across , I was wondering whether I would lose weight as there were no drastic cutouts of food from my regular diet .
But I kept faith and continued seriously with the diet prescribed , I felt comfortable throughout the day and energetic for my work too, also it gave me  a good idea how to balance and identify carbs, protein , fibre in my diet  and make sure to include all . Losing 500 gm weekly was very encouraging with regular exercise.
I had to travel almost every month and exposed to celebrations but I managed to pick the right food from the buffets under your guidance and that helped to keep the weight in control.
This has helped me a lot as social meetings are unavoidable and sensible eating outdoors is becoming easier to follow.
Under this guidance the entire family is eating healthy as all in different age groups but are able to derive energy and nutrition suitable to them.
Also different combinations and replacement of food  has made me relaxed to eat well and not feel guilty .

Thank you for your guidance and steering me towards healthy food habits.
Will keep in touch.

HEALTHY LIVING STARTING NOW....

With  New  Year  bells  ringing  in  we  are  all  set  to  make  resolutions  for  the   new  year  and  I’m  sure  ‘going  on  a  diet’  would  also  feature  in  the  list. But  then  as  tradition  goes – Resolutions  are  meant  to  be  broken  and  so  would  going  on  a  diet!

There  are  certain  questions  we  need  to  ask  ourselves  before  following any diet  :
Are  we  really   following  the  right  diet ?
Does  it  fit  into  our  routine ?
Is  the  diet  sustainable ?

The  answer  to  this  would  be  YES  only  if  we  change  our  perception  of  DIET.  Instead  of  referring  to  DIET  as  starvation  or  deprivation  or  following  a  rigid  or  crash  diet,  let’s  go  back  to  the  definition  of  the  word  “DIET”, which  in  Latin  means  - a  way  of  life.

Let’s  look  at  this  word  in  a  different  way  to  make  it  more  enjoyable  as  well  as  adaptable-

D.I.E.T. -
Design
Indulgence
Exercise
Tranquility

Design :
A  regimen, whether  it  is  diet  or  exercise which fits in easily into your schedule without you having to take extra efforts to pursue it  . But  remember, not  to  choose  a  programme  just  because  somebody  tells  you  to  or  because  your  friend  is  following  it. What  may  be  right  for  them  may  not  work  for  you.
Work  out  a  goal   and  chalk  out  ways  to  achieve  it.
Make  gradual  changes  in  your  lifestyle
A  professional  nutritionist  would  be  able  to  guide  as  well  as  motivate  you  in  your  endeavour.

Indulgence :
20 %  and  Diet  80%  is  the  key  to  adhering  to  any  diet  regimen. The  reason  is  that  the  moment  you  deprive  yourself  of  your  favourite  foods  you  either  get  back  to  them  with  a  vengeance  or  overindulge. Adopt  a practical   system  for  food  selection,. Enjoy  eating  a  healthy  mix  of  all  foods, balancing  high-fat  foods  with  low-fat, high  fiber  foods  and  developing  strategies  for  eating  your  favourite  foods  in  moderation.
Eat  everything  you  enjoy  but   in  moderation.
Work  towards  moderation,  balance  and  variety with  food  choices  and  exercise.

Exercise :
Follow  a  sensible  fitness  routine  that  boosts  up  your  metabolism  so  can  burn  more  body  fat,  even  at  rest. Incorporate  more  “natural”  activity  in  your   daily  routine. Rest  your  vehicle  and  walk   to  your  destination, climb  up  stairs ,  avoid  sleeping  immediately  after  a  meal. A  brisk  walk  of  30-45  mins  at least 4-5 days a week is  essential   to  burn   body  fat  stores  and  is  an  activity  which  you  can  pursue  anywhere  and  at  anytime.
Remember  to  choose  activities  you  like  and  are  convenient  to  you.

Tranquility
In  today’s  jet-age, escalating   work  pressures  and  stress  have  become  an  unavoidable  part  and  parcel  of  our  lifestyle. Almost  everyone  encounters  stress, what  is  important  is  how  we  handle  the  stress. Identify  the  cause  of  stress  and  step  by  step  work  out  solutions Think  positive!. Pursuing  hobbies, practicing yoga, listening to music, meditation and  chanting “OM” helps  keep  a  tranquil  mind. Exercise  when  you  feel  stressed  and  observe  a  miraculous  effect  - there’s  a  feeling  of  well-being , thanks  to  the  hormone  serotonin  which  is  released  when  you  exercise. You  surely  will  feel  on  the  top  of  the  world !

Where  there’s  a  will  there’s  a  way!

There’s  nothing  impossible  on  this  earth   when  one  has  the  desire  as  well  as  the  determination  to  work  for  it.

Shift  thinking  to  lifestyle  (not  dieting)  and  lifetime (not  quick-fix ).
so,  make  diet  a  habit  &  health  a  lifestyle

Have  a  Happy  &  Healthy  year  ahead !!!

The     S. H. A. P. E.     Diets
Scientific  Holistic  Acheivable  Personalized  Effective

A diet may be very easy to follow but can it be a permanent part of our lifestyle?
Many of us go on a diet but how many of us can really continue it for long?

One always shudders at the word Diet because it is referred to as an endless list of things one can’t eat, deprivation or starvation.

Geeta Desai with 23 years of practice in this field believes that to achieve permanent results one has to make Diet a habit and health a lifestyle.

S.H.A.P.E. Diets (Scientific, Holistic, Achievable, Personalized and Effective) devised by her assure a solution to make diet a habit with ease.

The unique feature of this diet is that you don’t feel that you are doing anything different and so is pursuable and therefore it is more long lasting. It just slips in comfortably as a part of your lifestyle.

In this diet, foods are grouped according to their similarity in nutrient and calorie content, so one has a wide range of foods to choose from. This not only breaks the monotony of following the same regimen everyday but also makes it an easy task of adapting it permanently in one’s daily routine.

Scientific
Knowing very well the hazards of crash diets or the ineffectiveness of special diets (mono diets), S.H.A.P.E. Diets are designed on a scientific background. Efforts are taken to meet the nutritional requirements, increase the metabolic rate (which is low in majority of the cases), and increase the lean body mass and also reducing the fat without eating less. The diets maintain a perfect balance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats along with vitamins and minerals.

S.H.A.P.E. insists on 4-6 meals and no crash diets, taking full care of your entire health, keeping your muscles intact, increasing your B.M.R. which in turn will definitely ensure a smooth sail to Fat Loss! A weight loss of 2 kgs per month is recommended so that it is more gradual and easy to maintain. Emphasis is also laid on exercise, which could be any activity you enjoy; say a brisk walk of 30-45 minutes daily. Also tips are given to increase your spontaneous activity which in turn burns calories.

Holistic
Just being thin is not enough but it’s the health that really matters. S.H.A.P.E. diets concentrate on your overall health, improving your biochemical parameters with an effort to reduce your medications. Also focus is more on PREVENTIVE rather than CURATIVE therapy, thereby shifting the focus to improve the immune system and keeping diseases and fatigue at bay. Guidance is given on behavioural modification techniques, positive approaches and stress relieving techniques.

Achievable
Imagine trying to pursue something which is neither practical nor enjoyable, isn’t it most frustrating? That is the reason one tends to discontinue any regimen. S.H.A.P.E. Diets are designed in such a way that they are easily achievable, without feeling deprived or starved. With options galore in the diet, following the regimen is very easy with no problems, as there is an easy solution for every hurdle. S.H.A.P.E. Diets also guide you on how not to deprive yourself if you have a “sweet tooth” or if you have a craving for something “chatpata”. You are also told how to compensate in case you binge at a party.

The overall program is an educative process where the entire ‘why’s and ‘how’s of diet are explained in a simple way. The changes, if required are very gradually made. Counselling is the major forte of the program which is the key to open the lock of inhibition for a successful weight-loss. Efforts are taken to change the attitude towards diet and exercise & within no time the art of the balancing-act is mastered by clients.

Personalized
For any program to be successful it is very essential to identify the goals as well as the problems underlying and together with the client, work out a solution which will be easily adapted in one’s routine. This is possible only if the program is personalised and with patient listening. The diets are tailor-made to suit one’s personal needs, requirements and lifestyle.

Whether it is vegetarian or non- vegetarian, continental or moghlai, fast foods or quick-fix recipes S.H.A.P.E. Diets have the solution to suit each one’s palate and each one’s lifestyle. You’ll enjoy every meal of yours and yet achieve your goal.

Effective
S.H.A.P.E. Diets being so scientific in nature, with a holistic approach, easily achievable and personalized are totally effective and more long lasting.

So adopting S.H.A.P.E. Diets and regular exercise along with desire, determination and consistency, there sure lies a bright and healthy future ahead!
